VST PlugIn Technology by Steinberg

README

This VST PlugIn emulating tube distortion was designed to be used during
mastering.

Parameters:

Drive setting controls internal tube threshold. The more the drive the
more 'tubized' signal becomes. This is not a relative setting, so you will
need to use different 'Drive' values for every production. JFYI, internal
thershold is at -6 dB when 'Drive' setting is at 0 dB. If you make 'Drive'
equal to 6 dB internal threshold will decrease to -12 dB. So, for loud
signals you will possibly need low 'Drive' values and for quiet signals
you will possibly use high 'Drive' values.

Tube setting adjusts voltage curve. Using values > 1.0 makes very strange
tube sound. Normal setting is in range 0 to 1. Suggested 'tubewarming'
    value is 0.21.

Bias setting controls a special biasing signal that is added to input
signal. Biasing allows to introduce both even and odd harmonics and
generally makes processing more dynamic. Setting bias to zero will result
	in no additional biasing.

Out Gain controls overall output volume.

Notes:

Plug-in can work in "mono -> stereo" and "stereo -> stereo" modes.

BTW, possibly chaining several tube amps with different settings produces
    better sound.

What's New:

    Version 1.6, 17-nov-2002
    ------------------------
    1. A major rewrite of plug-in's internal functions. Now plug-in works
       more that 2 times faster.
    2. Noise control was removed.
    3. Added 'Bias' control which also required to implement a DC offset
removal filter which was also added. This filter attenuates frequencies
below 23 Hz while having almost no effect on frequenices above that
       threshold.
    4. GUI controlling changed to a more user-friendly style. Now vertical
mouse moving does coarse-tuning. Right mouse button enables
fine-tuning. Mouse hides when tuning a knob.

    Version 1.5, 19-oct-2002
    ------------------------
    1. Changed license file.
    2. Added denormalization countermeasures.

    Version 1.4, 25-jul-2002
    ------------------------
    No changes were logged.
